Considering people first and foremost in their dignity and the whole of their psychological and cultural construction, and taking into account their (often arbitrary) assignments, the artistic and cultural approach is not simply a matter of specialists working with “specific audiences”, but of people reaching out to others in a search for fruitful dialogue that weaves a sensitive and fragile common space where each person experiences and strengthens his or her emancipatory capacities to make humanity together.

Antiquarks offers multi-disciplinary creations that are mixed, lively, popular and artistically demanding. It places its expression within the global field of civic culture, and develops a poetics that invites everyone’s imagination, within an accepted artistic framework.

Whatever form their shows take, the members of the company are committed to taking into account the physical, geographical reality of a territory, as well as its cultural, human, social and historical dimensions.

According to a method built up through readings and tested through experience, artistic actions and proposals are defined and organized on the basis of constant listening and regular dialogue with the stakeholders in a territory.

It is based on surveys and social science research (participant observation, exploratory interviews), theoretical university research (philosophy of science and critical sociology), which we combine with an artistic and sensitive approach.

It’s also a method that transcends administrative and institutional frameworks to tie in with the deep-rooted, lived realities of local people in all their diversity.

Over the years, we have refined our method to suit a variety of worlds, proving its effectiveness and versatility:

• In the rural world, as in the Drôme Provençale project, as part of a four-year experimental CTEAC, or in the peri-urban world of Vénissieux with the art & sport creation Urban GlobeTrotter.
• In the world of institutionalized artistic and cultural practices, such as conservatories and music schools in France, as well as in less visible, high-profile events such as community festivals, including those from exiled cultures (Sudan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Morocco) or colonized ones (Amerindian communities in Bolivia).
• Whether in protected environments such as ESATs, clinics, hospitals and homes, or in more “ordinary” settings, our approach includes all individuals, including those with disabilities.
